The 2017 Ocean to Motion Interclub Motocross Series concluded at Benaraby Raceway Sunday with few surprises in the final results. With 98 bikes entered it was always going to be a battle for the club to get the track ready after the recent flood that covered a third of the track. The weather was warm and the track held up fairly well. There were no surprises in the 50cc Auto 2 class with Clayton Pickering keeping the bike upright to win the day and to extend his series lead over Isaac Brady to 8 points and take home first place. Koby Hof took home third on the day but Jett Clark rode consistently to finish third for the series. The 65cc 7 to under 10 years class saw Blackwaters Jason West win 3 from 3 to take first on the day ahead of series leader Mason Russell and Isaac Brady. Mason Russell was a clear series winner though ahead of Ella Gleeson and Koby Hof. Clayton Pickering missed third by a mere 2 points after a flawless days riding. The 65cc 10 to under 12 years class saw John Taylor take all 3 race wins and shoot himself to first place in the series. Riley Runge took second and Joshua Wilkinson third on the day. Carlos Norris took second for the series and Riley Runge third after he missed round 1 due to injury. In the Mini Lites 9 to under 12 years another perfect score of 105 points saw Jason West take first place from Sam Castle and Matthew Groves. The series overall leaders went on to win the series however with Mason Russell in first followed by Matthew Groves and Thomas Gleeson.  The Mini Lites 12 to under 16 class saw Zac Perry continue on his winning way to take the series win ahead of Daniel Moore and Mikaela Krebs. On the day results went to Brad West, Zac Perry and Daniel Moore. Brad West was the winner of the Junior Lites class also ahead of Jayden Pender and Jacob Shields. The series win went to Jacob Shields ahead of Jayden Pender and Cooper Torr who overtook Nathan Groves by 5 points after Groves had a fall and a recorded a DNF in race 2. The Ladies class was won by Kirra Baxter who took the days win ahead of Shannon Spratt and Pippa Wilkings. The series results for the Ladies saw Kirra Baxter first, Pippa Wilkings second and Shannon Spratt third. Gladstone’s Stephen Neilsen won all three races in the Vets 30 to 40 years class to record a win ahead of Clayton Pickering and Joel Rayner. However Pickering and Rayner took the spoils for the series with Geoff Gleeson finishing in third place. Terry Scarborough took first place on the day in the Vets over 40 years class. Chris Haertel took second and Trevor Pratt third. The series win however went to Trevor Pratt from Craig Cruickshank and Chris Haertel. The Clubman Lites class was a mixed bag for the riders with Tye Shaw taking  first place from Gladstone locals Jackson Korableff and Jaydon Purdy. However the series podium was made up of Ty Vallence, Tye Shaw and Luke Trapp. Shaw and Trapp tied on 294 and Phillip Bewsey after a DNF in race 2 was a mere 3 points back in fourth. The Senior Lites class saw Daniel Boyce show the field a clean set of heels to record 3 comfortable wins ahead of Max Brennan and Tyson Baxter. Consistency paid off for Max Brennan who competed in the four rounds to take the series win ahead of Kam Watson and Daniel Boyce. The Clubman Open class saw series leader Alan Cornick stand top of the podium on the day ahead of Tye Shaw and Josh Putman. Cornick went on to win the series ahead of Joel Rayner but the real battle for third did play out on the day. Luke Trapp and Lee Tonkin went into the final round all tied at 198. Trapp took the start in all 3 motos but Tonko wore him down each race to pass him in the final lap in all 3 motos. Tonko taking the final podium spot in third. Small fields in the Senior Open class saw Max Brennan take first place in the series from Lee Voss and the days winner Tyson Baxter.
