Queensland's biggest dedicated off-road motorcycling facility is an appropriate venue to lead the charge as the new Stegg's Moto Technology WoW (Women on Wheels) Motocross Development Series blasts into life on the weekend of April 14/15.
"Ride Like a Girl" is the proud slogan, and many of South-East Queensland’s fastest female motocross racers will be there to show exactly what that means as they take centre stage in the brand new, three-round series.
With a focus firmly on development of female racers, the series caters for everyone from beginner to expert, with the emphasis on growing the confidence and ability of riders of all grades and ages, right down to age four.
The series is also a unique opportunity for licence holders to compete on a trio of tracks at locations which have not been regulars on the mainstream motocross calendar for more than five years.
After Round 1 at QMP, the series will travel to Goondiwindi for May 19/20, before the final takes place at the re-affiliated Warwick motocross complex on the weekend of June 9/10.
Series Coordinator Mel Stagg has worked hard to give the series plenty of ‘WoW factor’, in her determination to make it the perfect showcase of female motocross racing.
“In a male-dominated sport this series is a rare opportunity for girls to race against other females in their own race” said Stagg, a mother of two budding racer girls, “and that makes this series an important one for female motocross riders.”
Stagg has shaped a format to maximise track-time and enjoyment of the racing weekend, with a two-day program consisting of two practices and one race on Saturday, then two Sunday races with an early 3pm scheduled finish to allow the longer travelers to begin the journey home earlier.
Sponsorship opportunities are still available for the WOW Series, to become a sponsor of this exciting new women’s series, contact Mel Stagg on 0427 768 711.
As the WoW series is an inter-cub series, to compete you must be a member of one of the 'promoting' clubs:
