Kane Halls to win Richmond River Run

Last weekend saw the 14th staging of the Richmond River Run at Lake Fred Tritton, Richmond. Riders travelled from as far afield as Weipa, Mt Isa, Cairns, Mackay and Rockhampton to take part. Juniors competed on Saturday and Seniors on Sunday.
In the 50cc Juniors the winner was Jean Lavell, Jackson Walsh took out the 65cc, Lachlan Hawkins came out on top in Mini Lites and Chayse Sellick was the winner in the Junior Lites and also took the fastest lap time.
The Ironman class boasted a purse of $1000 worth of gifts and cash and attracted 30 hardy riders. It was only decided in the final stages, after previous winner Kane Hall from Airlie Beach overcame early bike trouble and a race spent in catch up mode behind Sean Bowden.
Eventually he took the win from Sean, who can take some consolation from recording the fastest lap during the duel. It was a sweet win for Kane, coming on on the back of his team win at the Gum Valley Trasnmoto.
North Queensland Riders Scott Goften and Kayden Downing also proved they were a force to be reckoned with, taking out the Open class.
Matthew Jurss and Steven Ryder claimed Veterans honours, while Jayden Hodgson and Tom Fox took out the Lites.
When the River Run comes to town the whole community bands together to ensure its success, and it is growing and growing.
The Richmond Dirt Bike Club would like to thank the whole community, the officials, volunteers, riders and sponsors who all banded together to make this event such a great sucesses.
Their next event will be a Junior Coaching Clinic in October, supported by Queensland Enduro to assist those remote Junior Riders wishing to participate in 2019.
