Ayr Motorcycle Club will be running their iconic event King of the Canefields this Saturday (October 20), as its last club day of the year.
King of the Canefields is an annual two-rider relay event, run at the Ayr Motorcycle Club’s track at Brandon. The event has been run for the past 15 years and was originally instigated by long time club member Kevin Hartwell, who is proud to see his original concept still going strong today.
The club is expecting a strong field of around 70 competitors with a couple travelling 1200km each way (from Brisbane) to attend, and this year's event is back bigger and better than ever, with additional classes.
For the first time a ‘Queen of the Canefields’ will be chosen, as well as a Veteran King of the Canefields, while additional races on both the lap track and the dirt track will help to determine the overall winners.
Last year we paired up competitors using a peg draw, and the Kings of the Canefields were Kayden Downing (pictured #491) and Bill Tapp. This year competitors will choose their own relay partners. This year they'll both return, although with different relay partners.
