Waters Name Joins the Mountain Man Honour Roll

DPH Husqvarna rider Todd Waters etched his name on the hallowed list of Mountain Man winners when he sealed the Toowoomba Motocross Club's blue ribband event in brilliant style at the famous Echo Valley circuit yesterday.
The first winner on a Husqvarna motorcycle since 1980, Waters added his name alongside many of the most famous names in Australian motocross history when he finished ahead of Richie Evans and Aaron Tanti.
It was a near-perfect result where he was triumphant in every race bar one, when he was overhauled by Richie Evans.
Aaron Tanti took third on a countback after a dramatic finish to the third race when he squeaked across the line less than a second clear of Australan Supercross Champion Jay Wilson.
The biggest women's field ever fought it out for the Women's Mountain Man crown, with Chelsea Carter going 1, 1, 3 for the win.
Last year Carter cleaned up in SEQ, but after struggling to fourth in last weekend's Airoh opener, reverted back to two-stroke power for Toowoomba with instant effect.
The runaway winner of last weekend's Airoh series opener, senior rookie Tahlia Drew went 2, 2, 2 in her first senior Mountain man, while Charlotte Gamble upstaged both girls in the third and final race to pinch a win and secure the final place on the podium for herself.
Club President Ojai Maguire was satisfied the event was an appropriate showcase for the sport of motocross.
"The spectator numbers were awesome, we had full grids for both junior classes and there were 60 contestants for the Mountain Man class," said Maguire," so Toowoomba again did itself proud."
