Moving to the picturesque Algarve coast in Portugal from 11-16 November, the 2019 ISDE will see Team Australia come in with a target on their backs after an indisputably successful 2018 season!
The Australian Women’s World Trophy Team consisting of Taylah Jones, Jessica Gardiner and Mackenzie Tricker, left the world in their wake to take out a sixth consecutive win! Jones was also awarded the fastest outright time in the Women’s World Trophy class!
After finishing in second in 2017, our Australian World Trophy Team made up of Daniel Milner, Daniel Sanders, Joshua Strang and Lyndon Snodgrass, came into 2018 with all guns blazing. Taking out the title win ahead of our USA rivals, the success was made that bit sweeter with Milner being awarded the 2018 Outright Champion and 2018 E3 Champion!
Our Australian Junior World Trophy Team came away from Chile and the sunny Vina Del Mar with a wealth of experience, landing in fifth place! Team Australia’s 2018 team included Fraser Higlett, Tom Mason and Andrew Wilksch. After a grueling six days in stifling conditions, Mason and Wilksch finished in 16th and 15th respectively in the E3 category, and Higlett in 9th place for the E1 category.
The annual ISDE is the Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme’s (FIM) longest running sanctioned event, and 2019 will herald its 94th edition as it lands in Portimao, Portugal. Over the course of six days, riders will tackle three different routes, 10 demanding special tests, traversing 1,500 kilometres and finishing off with one final speed race.
Team Australia will feature as one of more than 30 nations from five continents, with over 650 riders estimated to kick off in Portimao from 11-16 November!
