Congratulations Lynn Thomson, MQ’s Queensland Official of the Month for July.
We asked Lynn tells a little bit about how she came to contribute to the sport in this manner.
“I have been involved in motorcycle sport in one form or another for the past 26 years. From the time my son was given his first 50cc at 4 years old and my daughter her 50cc at 5 years old I knew I had to give back to the sport that has given myself and my family so much joy.
“I have met so many lovely people through the sport in Africa, New Zealand and Australia, from Craig Dack to just Joe Soap the weekend warrior, that I feel truly blessed.
“I love what the sport has to offer, not just a high adrenaline rush, but the way it teaches the young and old about good fellowship and sportsmanship. It has developed my family into a very strong, courageous and resilient unit that is prepared for anything that comes along the way and for this I feel indebted to the sport.
“I have been the Race Secretary and, with the help of my husband Nick, the Coordinator for the Central Highlands and Coal Fields Series for the past 7 years. This is a series that was the brainchild of Peter Matthews and Shane Morgan for those individuals that did not want to participate in the CQ series for one reason or another but just wanted to race, and not for sheep stations!
“Thank you so much for the recognition and I can only but hope that the CH & CF Series continues, and I encourage those individuals who would like to contribute to the sport without participating, to become officials.”
