From his first event, Darcy Ward of Darcy Ward Speedway Promotions (DWSP) has elevated the local North Brisbane speedway scene to a level probably not witnessed for a long time.
Drawing on every ounce of his international experience and passion for the sport, Darcy will again present some of the biggest events and championships, attracting some of the sport’s most famous and most idolised personalities to Mick Doohan Raceway at Banyo.
On November 19th DWSP will host his first sidecar event at the North Brisbane club’s Banyo venue; the 2022 Qld Sidecar Championships, sponsored by The Landscaping Yard and Hardware.
“North Brisbane Speedway track already has served up some red-hot sidecar racing this year already”, said Darcy, “so to throw all the best in the business in there together will be awesome to watch. We are expecting a high number of entries with the top eight from the previous championships being automatically seeded.”
Two of the country’s biggest meetings will explode into life at North Brisbane early in January, with the 5th and final round of the Australian Speedway Senior Solo Championships (Wednesday, January 11) followed by the Darcy Ward Invitational (Friday January 13).
It has been a long time since an Aussie championship round was held at North Brisbane, and to follow it two days later with the Darcy Ward Invitational is a treat for speedway fans, who will see, among others, 3x World Champion Tai Woffinden.
“The biggest line up we have yet seen is in the works,” said Darcy, “and occurring just in time to celebrate 100 years of Speedway it’s a show not to be missed.
‘‘Woffy has accepted the invitation to ride my meeting at North Brisbane which is really exciting. We’ve been mates since we were kids and it’s awesome to have him line up here for the first time. Fans in Australia will be over the moon to watch Woffy live in Aussie’’, says Darcy.
Darcy’s latest announcement concerns double Australian Champion, two-time Grand Prix winner and 2022 Speedway of Nations Gold medallist Max Fricke, who will be defending his title as Australian Champion.
Tickets will be available in advance with pre-sale and a special early bird double event pass available September 1.
