Motorcycling Queensland would like to congratulate the six Motorcycling Queensland affiliated clubs who were recently announced as successful recipients for Round 118 of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (closed 15 September 2023).
The successful clubs and projects are:
*Biloela Dirt Riders incorporated for upgrade of lights
*Charters Towers Motorcycle Club for the installation of an ablution block
*Gladstone District Dirt Riders Club Inc for the purchase of an All Terrain Vehicle and Ride on Mower
*Goondiwindi Motorcycle Club to replace starting gates
*Kilcoy Motorcycle Club Inc to refurbish Building Interior and Purchase Medical Vehicle
*Rum City Motorcycling Club to install Sprinklers and Risers
Goondiwindi Motorcycle Club Secretary Jordan McGregor had this to say about their successful application:
“We applied back in September in order to replace our start gates. They were already ancient and after three floods came through they got pretty well seized up, so they’d been high on our project list.
We got the approval earlier than expected so we’ll be able to run them in before the first club day in April.”
Though Jordan is a dab hand at grant writing now, she learned the trade from a local business – Sports Grants Queensland.
“David McMahon, who helped us, is excellent. He takes the pressure off shows you the ropes. Then after that I taught myself to do the different types, because some grants are more complex than others, but they all boil down to – what you want, why you’re applying and how you’ll benefit from it.
And often the programs themselves are happy to help you out and they’re quite helpful, assuming they’re not swamped with enquiries.”
