We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of the much-loved steward of Central Queensland Motocross, Bud Markley, on Sunday August 4, with his beloved Lil by his side. Bud was the founder of the Central Queensland Motocross Series, which began 44 years ago. In 1987, he collaborated with Noel Stitt and Ron Single to form the Central Queensland Branch of the Auto Cycle Union, leading to the evolution of the CQ Series the following year.
Remembered for his friendly, welcoming demeanor and ready smile, even when surrounded by chaos, Bud’s integrity and communication skills made him an excellent official and mentor.
He remained a regular visitor at motocross and beach racing events until as recently as this year.
Bud’s funeral will be held in Mackay on Wednesday, August 14th at 2 PM at New Life Church, 75 Evans Avenue, North Mackay.
