Motorcycling Queensland (MQ) announces a transition in Board leadership, as President Russell Bentley concludes his tenure and Vice President Tanya Whalley is appointed Interim President.
Russell has made a significant and valued contribution to MQ as President. A lifelong motorcyclist, he has brought passion for the sport, strong professional experience and a clear commitment to supporting MQ’s members, clubs, officials, volunteers and the broader riding community.
With more than 25 years’ experience as a business owner and corporate leader, Russell has provided important insight into organisational performance, governance and long-term sustainability. His experience has helped guide constructive Board discussions and supported MQ’s continued focus on strengthening the foundations of the sport in Queensland. Throughout his time as President, Russell has been a strong advocate for motorcycling and has consistently worked to support better outcomes for the MQ community.
The Motorcycling Queensland Board thanks Russell for his professionalism, leadership and dedication to the sport. He will continue to serve MQ in his capacity as a director.
As part of the Board’s succession planning process, Vice President Tanya Whalley has been appointed Interim President of Motorcycling Queensland.
Tanya has served on the MQ Board for several years and with a legal background brings strong governance experience, risk management expertise and a deep commitment to the organisation and the sport. She will serve as Interim President until the AGM on 22 June 2026 pending director elections.
The Board remains focused on building strong governance, supporting members and clubs, and continuing to deliver positive outcomes for motorcycling across Queensland.
